Apostate
A fictional film poster set in the world of the SCP Foundation.
Apostate is a poster for a film that doesn't exist. Started in the winter semester of 2023 and finished in 2024, it imagines a big-budget cinema release inspired by the SCP universe, the collaborative fiction about a secret organization that secures, contains and protects the world from anomalous objects and entities. The goal was to design a complete theatrical one-sheet, from the first impression of the key image down to the last line of the billing block.
Two armored operatives dominate the frame, rendered almost as silhouettes in black gear and full-face masks. Behind them, the Foundation's emblem and a thin surveillance grid sit inside a wall of fog, so the image reads as a mission still caught on a monitor rather than a staged photograph.
The palette runs on hard contrast: a washed-out white sky against near-black figures, with red the only accent, floating embers and rolling smoke softening the edges. The angular title sits inside the Foundation's own vocabulary, framed by "Secure. Contain. Protect." and a redacted-looking string of cipher characters, with a full billing block and studio logos borrowed from real theatrical posters to sell the fiction. Apostate was an exercise in making something fictional feel real: how much of a film's identity can be built before a single frame is shot. Fan artwork made as a student exercise; the film does not exist, SCP Foundation content is community-created under CC BY-SA 3.0, and the billing block is placeholder text.
