After Hours
A camera portrait lit with nothing but desk lamps
After Hours is a home-made product shoot with one goal: making a camera look cinematic without a studio. The subject is a Fujifilm X-T4, staged on an ordinary tablecloth and lit with nothing more than a few office lamps. What looks like a high-end product campaign was built on a desk in a dark room at home.
The whole series works in low key. Narrow pools of light graze the camera from the side and pick out only what matters: the knurled dials, the red shutter button, the engraved logo and the grain of the leather grip. Everything else falls into deep black, so the camera seems to emerge slowly from the dark.
Shallow depth of field and a cool, desaturated grade complete the cinematic look. The focus jumps from aperture markings to lens rings to the model name, and the small red accents stay the only warm color in the frame. A simple setup, pushed as far as it could go with what was already on hand.
