Red Line
Light, color and form on a replica in close-up
Red Line is a close-up product shoot of an airsoft replica, though the object itself is only the starting point. The series is about composition and color: how a single strip of warm light can carve shape out of a dark surface, and how much atmosphere fits into a few square centimeters of textured polymer.
The series opens in black and white. Hard side light and a deep black background reduce the scene to pure contrast, a gloved hand, a silhouette and the edges where light meets shadow.
From there, color takes over. A deep red accent light grazes the surfaces against cool, dark tones and picks out serrations, engravings and the stippled texture of the grip. Shallow depth of field keeps only a narrow slice of each frame sharp, so the eye follows the light rather than the object.
Every angle is treated like an abstract still life. Diagonals, curves and hard edges build the compositions, while the warm-cold contrast gives the whole series its moody, cinematic look.
