The Listener
A close-up study of the satellite dishes from Echoes in the Void's closing scene
The Listener is a close-up hard-surface study of the large satellite dishes seen at the end of Echoes in the Void, receiving Voyager's signal back from interstellar space: a standalone deep dive into scale, weathering and mechanical detail on a piece of hardware that only appears in the film's closing moments.
The dishes needed to read as functioning receiving equipment at close range: riveted panel seams, support trusses, weathered paint and a real sense of scale, built to survive the same tight camera framing as the rest of the film's hardware.
A small spin-off exercise built alongside Echoes in the Void's main asset pipeline, and a chance to push one single object further than its few seconds on screen in a larger film usually allows.
