Abyssal Bloom is a personal study of something that was never meant to be found. Far below the surface, a massive organism drifts in the dark, half animal and half overgrown plant, while a group of small drones circles it and keeps it in the beams of their searchlights. The project grew out of one question: how far can shading go in making a form feel alive?

The core of the project is the surface. Instead of relying on dense geometry, the creature's hairy, algae-like skin is built almost entirely through shaders. Layered displacement and fine, fibrous detail give every tentacle the soft, drifting texture of something that has grown in still water for a very long time.

Light only enters the scene through the drones. Their narrow beams cut through the murky water and reveal the creature one fragment at a time, so most of its body stays hidden in the dark. The result shifts between observation and threat, and it is never quite clear who is watching whom.

Without its shaders, the creature becomes a study in pure form. The clay render strips away color and texture and shows the base structure underneath: coiled shells, layered petals and long, sweeping tentacles that carry the whole silhouette.
