Out of Control
A fictional trailer following a factory process that slips from order into chaos
Out of Control is a fictional trailer animated for a Motion Design course: a monotone gray factory running a process that starts linear and predictable, then gradually spirals into chaos. A red cube leads the way through it, carried on a conveyor belt and passed through one mechanical stage after another, until it gets caught in the factory's gears and the chaos finally breaks loose. Red only ever appears where something has gone wrong: a gear spinning against the grain, the cube shunted onto the wrong belt, small deliberate breaks in an otherwise gray, mechanical world. The music, built in Logic Pro, carries a constant ticking that every mechanical movement in the animation is timed against.
The soundtrack went through the same shift from order to chaos as the animation itself. Built in Logic Pro around that constant background ticking, it started as a much rougher sketch before arriving at the finished version heard in the trailer.
